John W. Ohl is the President, Founder and Chief Compliance Officer of Bay Colony Advisors. As Chief Compliance Officer, John oversees Bay Colony Advisors business operations ensuring all are compliant with SEC regulation. Having received his B.A. from University of Vermont in 1985, John entered the financial industry in 1986. John has extensive industry knowledge as an Investment Advisor Representative, and has previously held FINRA Securities licenses that include the Series 6, 7, 24 and 65. With over 30 years of investment management experience, John has experienced many economic, political and financial cycles. Bay Colony Advisory Group was founded in June of 2000 after John left his career as a stockbroker to start a boutique Wealth Management firm. John recognized that independent advisors needed an affordable institutional platform to simplify compliance and back office support so they could focus on their buisness.
John’s main responsibilities include the firm’s strategic positioning, asset generation, and oversight of the company’s investment policy and is responsible for the strategic vision of the firm. John chairs the firm's Investment Policy Committee where he is responsible for asset allocation, investment strategy, and investment selections for some of the Bay Colony Advisors separate account portfolios. Over the course of his career, John has been responsible for the development of numerous equity and asset allocation strategies, has lectured on fiduciary issues relating to corporate retirement plans impacted by the Dodd-Frank legislation, and has provided investor education to participants of corporate retirement plans.
The focus of John's financial and professional career has been advising, lecturing and managing financial assets in areas related to investment management, financial modeling, and portfolio analysis. John has served highly affluent families, private family offices, foundations, charitable organizations, pension plans, and institutions since entering the financial industry in 1986. John serves on the Financial Advisory Board of the Saint Julia Parish in Weston, MA.
John is married with two daughters and enjoys spending time with family kayaking down the Sudbury river as well as hiking or skiing The White Mountains of New Hampshire
James C. Catacchio, Executive Vice President, and Chief Operations Officer at Bay Colony Advisors handles all operational aspects of Bay Colony Advisors. In addition to as serving as Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Catacchio is an assistant portfolio manager at Bay Colony Advisors, and serves as a director on the board of Bay Colony Advisory Group, Inc. After starting his career at Ameriprise Financial, and working in the brokerage world for a number of years, James decided to join a more specialized, boutique investment advisory firm, on the fee-based side of the business. In 2008, Mr. Catacchio joined Bay Colony Advisory Group, Inc.
James and his wife Lauren reside in Carlisle, MA, where he serves on the town Finance Committee. James has been an avid cyclist for a number of years, and can often be found on the back roads and trails of New England during the summer weekends. James Catacchio received a B.S. in Finance from Bentley University in 2005, and is currently studying at Boston University for a CFP® designation.
Pamela J. Bakos is a Managing Principal and an Investment Advisor Representative of Bay Colony Advisors. She specializes in Retirement Planning, Estate Planning, Insurance, and Annuity Investments. She works with investors who wish to pursue higher returns than can be obtained via short-term fixed income investments, while seeking to actively manage the risks that come with equity investing. She also works with clients who wish to explore the many advantages of insurance and annuity products as part of their overall financial planning.
Pamela has spent over 30 years advising clients on their financial investments while affiliated with Winslow Evans & Crocker, A.G. Edwards, Paine Webber, Dean Witter and LF Rothschild. She has conducted in-house Retirement Planning seminars in companies throughout New England.
Pamela is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and has been an active volunteer in her community. Currently, she serves on the Board of Ellevate Network Boston’s Chapter, a Global Organization whose mission is to cultivate and inspire women’s success. Pamela is also a member of Women in ETFs. She is a past Trustee and Overseer of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and has held positions on the Patron Steering Committee, Overseer Mentoring Committee, Education Task Force and the Patron Council Task Force Steering Committee at the Museum, and was Chairperson of the MFA Council. Pamela also volunteered at the Peabody Essex Museum on The Young Leadership Council and has held positions as an Advisory Board Member and as a Membership Chairperson. Pamela has also been a member of the Board of Directors for The North Shore Community College Foundation, Inc.
Deborah Ann Phipps is the Chief Administrative Officer at Bay Colony Advisors. After graduating with a B.S. from Skidmore College in 1985, she worked for years in Boston at Thompson McKinnon and Prudential Securities as a Licensed Senior Broker's Assistant. She has previously held Series 6 and 7 licenses.
Deborah and her husband, Thorn live in Hopkinton, MA with their two children, who are currently attending University of Massachusetts and University of Miami. She enjoys dancing, barre classes, yoga, oil painting and cooking.
Betsy is in a distinguished, experienced financial advisor with a dynamic financial planning background. Throughout her nine year financial planning career with Fidelity Investments and TIAA-CREF, she has consulted with hundreds of individuals and businesses.
Among those clients were high net worth individuals, small business owners, administrators, faculty, and staff at Ivy League colleges, hospitals and top tier medical institutions in New England, and even other financial advisors.
She believes the process of creating a financial plan involves team work between the financial planner and the client. Engaging the client and asking for regular feedback is an integral part of that process, and her relationships, to ensure she’s incorporating all relevant and necessary information to represent each client’s needs and goals.
Betsy has satisfied the educational requirement to sit for the CFP(R) exam through Bentley University’s Masters in Financial Planning program, and plans to sit for the exam within the next year.

Hayes became an Independent Advisor Representative for Bay Colony Advisors after a 36-year career providing institutional portfolio management. Over half that time was spent with Baring Asset Management in global asset allocation and equity portfolio construction for some of the largest funds in the world, including CALPERS, New York State Retirement Systems, and China Investment Corporation.
Throughout his career he conducted quantitative research on markets with emphasis on asset allocation, country, sector, currency, and factor analysis. He co-authored a CFA Research Institute monograph on country, sector, and stock impact in global equity markets.
Hayes’ portfolio management style at BCA integrates proprietary quantitative models with fundamental analysis to create portfolios built around asset allocation using mostly indexed products such as exchange traded funds to provide maximum diversification for low cost.
Hayes holds a BA in Political Science from Vanderbilt University and an MS from Boston University in Banking and Financial Services. He is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute and is a commissioner on the Winchester Commissioners of Trust Funds.
He and his wife, Cathy, are 30-year residents of Winchester, MA, where they raised their three grown children. When not glued to the financial news networks, Hayes enjoys bicycling (10-time PMC rider and now volunteer), golf, skiing and playing mandolin and guitar.
Carmel Furtado is an Investment Advisor Representative at Bay Colony Advisors. She holds the Series 65 license and is currently enrolled in the CFP Program at the College for Financial Planning.
After graduating from Fordham University, Carmel spent 20 years on Wall Street as a Taxable Fixed Income Trader for Citigroup. At Citigroup, she traded for the firm’s retail branch network; covering every sector from High Yield bonds to Telecommunications, Banking and Finance.
In 2000, Carmel left Wall Street, moved to Manchester, Vermont, and opened a small craft gallery, Leaves of Gold. In 2010, she realized owning a gallery was not her “bliss” and she returned to finance as a Client Advisor at Dion Money Management in Williamstown, Massachusetts. In 2015, she started her own Investment Advisory and Financial Planning company, Greenhaven Financial Management in Dorset, Vermont.
Carmel Furtado takes a holistic approach to the advisor/client partnership. Working directly with clients, she maps their financial goals to develop investment portfolios designed to meet those goals. “Our financial lives do not occur outside of our day to day lives. J. Britt Hughes has been President of Hughes Investment Advisory Services LLC since November 1993 - investing family and client assets in both US and overseas markets. After graduating from Fairfield Prep he earned a BA in both Political Science and French at Central Connecticut State University. Upon graduation he started a career as a stock broker with two brokerage firms in his home state of Connecticut becoming Senior Broker and Options Principal with People's Securities Inc., subsidiary of People's Bank of Bridgeport Ct. During the last 30 years Mr. Hughes has been an avid competitive sailor racing on a national level, first on his own J-24 and lately with larger international sailing programs. He lives in Stratford, Ct. with his wife and 12-year old daughter.
Francois Ducroux has over twenty-three years of experience in the investment industry working with families, companies, non-profits, and trusts. Francois offers customized wealth planning for his global clients and strategic and tactical allocation of their assets. His also specializes in fiduciary wealth management and retirement and estate planning.
Francois shares his experience and knowledge as a lecturer and mentor in various universities, corporations, and government organizations. Since 2007, he has been a board member of the French American Chamber of Commerce of New England (FACCNE), where he has assisted the organization through a major overhaul and unprecedented growth.
Francois graduated with an M.S. in Social Psychology from the University of Paris. He began his career as a Financial Advisor in 1997 at Morgan Stanley. In 2005, he became a Vice President at Merrill Lynch and then in 2009 a Senior Vice President at Winslow, Evans, and Crocker, where he worked for ten years.
Francois lives in Brookline, MA with his three children: Martin, Eva, and Zoe. An avid reader of world history, he enjoys national parks, live music, bicycling, swimming, and traveling throughout the world.
Justin Shure is the Founder and Wealth Advisor at Endeavor Strategic Wealth. He has a background in comprehensive wealth management with extensive knowledge in multi-generational planning. His focus is on delivering sound financial solutions and maintaining strong personal relationships with his clients and specializes in managing high-net-worth relationships.
Justin has 15 years of experience at some of the industry's largest brokerage and wealth management firms including Charles Schwab, UBS, and Ameriprise. He spent 11 years with Charles Schwab and managed total assets of more than $500 Million. Justin holds a BS in Accounting from Florida State University an MSF from Florida International University, as well as a CFP® designation.
In his spare time, Justin loves spending time outdoors with his wife Michelle, and their 2 young boys. When he has the opportunity, he enjoys fishing or playing golf.
Matt Hollister is an Investment Advisor Representative for Bay Colony Advisors. In addition to his role at BCA, Matt is the President of Business Benefits, Inc, a company which specializes in employee benefits brokerage, benefit plan administration and health and welfare plan compliance.
Prior to his role at BCA and Hollister, Matt worked as the regional manager for John Hancock Mutual Life insurance company. Matt has his B.A. from Northeastern University and a M.P.H. from Boston University where he concentrated in Health Care Policy. In addition, Matt holds an Investment Advisor's license and is a Candidate for CFP®.
Maya Ohl entered the Securities industry in 1982 while working at Bay Colony Financial Management as a client account representative. In 2012, after her children graduated from college, Maya became registered with Bay Colony Advisors, and established the firm's Connecticut office.
Maya received her BA cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1982 and majored in Government. She spent the Spring semester of 1980 in West Berlin attending the Frei Universitat. While at Dartmouth, Maya rowed crew and was President of her sorority Alpha Chi Omega. In 1985 Maya attended Tuft's Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and completed her 2 year MALD degree with honors in International Finance and Business. In addition, Maya attended courses at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Her thesis was on the American Banks and 1980s Debt Crisis in the Developing World. In the following years Maya worked with EF Education, as well as in various volunteer positions in non-profit organizations throughout Connecticut. She took leadership positions and served on the Boards of many of these organizations.
Mike Benenson has over 36 years working in the financial service industry and is an Investment Advisor Representative at Bay Colony Advisors Greenwich office. Over the last decade, Mike has successfully managed money for individuals, families, partnerships, retirement accounts and trusts in a Dividend Growth and Income Strategy.
Mike graduated with a B.A. from Dartmouth College in 1984 and began his career at Lazard Freres & Company and became a Sr. Vice President in Institutional Research and Sales. In 1995, Mike joined Gerard, Klauer, and Mattison where he became Head of Institutional Research Sales and Sales Trading. The company was later sold to Bank of Montreal /BMO Financial and Mike became an Executive Managing Director/ Head US Equity.
In 2004, Mike joined P.A.W. Capital Partners in Greenwich, CT where he was a Partner and Chief Operating Officer. In 2008, he joined AIS Capital/Futures MGMT in Wilton, CT where he was a Partner and member of the Equity Research Committee. In 2010, he joined Crescendo Partners as Chief Operating Officer. In 2014, Mike became President and US Equity Research Analyst for SmartInsider Consulting in Darien CT. In 2016, Mike became an Investment Advisor Representative for Questar Asset Management QAM and was the Director of Investments for Diddel & Diddel an affiliate of QAM.
He holds the Series 65 Investment Advisor registration.
Mike has resided in Greenwich for over 30 years with his wife Betsy. He has three grown children: Kate, Will and Jack. Mike is an avid sportsman, golfer and plays in many tennis and paddle tennis leagues.
Mitch Glazier CFP® is owner of Glazier Financial Advisors is an independent company that offers investment advisory services through Bay Colony Advisors. His career in financial services began at Fidelity Investments in 1986. At that time he was responsible for acquiring IRAs and Small Business Retirement Plans for Fidelity. Mitch’s experience in working for such Fortune 500 companies as Fidelity and Nationwide Insurance has enabled him to bring seasoned practical experience to his clients.
Today Mitch specializes in working with individuals, families and small business owners doing investment management and overall financial planning. He has a fast growing client base who reside in Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, and New York. California and Florida.
Mitch is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER and holds an MBA from Columbia University and a BA from Bowdoin College. Mitch and his wife Babs have lived in Newton Mass for 30 years and have two adult sons living in New England.
Richard is President of Sentinel Advisory Services, an independent company that offers investment advisory services through Bay Colony Advisors. While working for a Fortune 500 company Richard took control of his IRA and 401K portfolios after experiencing dramatic losses during the technology bubble burst in the early 2000’s. This lead to extensive investment management education and more than 7 years’ experience managing his own retirement accounts. He earned professional certification and started to work with clients in June 2009.
Richard specializes in managing participant's 401K and 403B accounts, in addition to managing standard brokerage accounts. He has extensive experience using Dorsey Wright's toolkit and is a graduate of their Investment Institute. Prior to forming Sentinel Advisory Services Richard had extensive sales, marketing, product line management and strategic alliance experience with Xerox, Digital Equipment Corp., and CA Technologies, Inc.
Richard and his wife, Donna, live in Leland, NC. A graduate of Queens College with a degree in Physics and of St. John’s University with an MBA, cum laude, in Marketing, Richard also took Executive Management courses at Harvard University and Babson College. Richard enjoys bicycling and golf. Annually he rides in the Pan Mass Challenge, a 2 day, 190 mile bicycle ride to raise money for cancer research and treatment at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Shawn is Senior Vice President and Wealth Manager at Hagin Investment Management, a New York based firm. Hagin is an independent company that offers investment advisory services through Bay Colony Advisors. Shawn has over twenty years of institutional financial service and portfolio management experience. From 2010 to 2012, he was Senior Vice President and Wealth Management Advisor at Dion Money Management in Williamstown, Massachusetts. While at Dion, he was responsible for the management of investment portfolios for individuals, families and trust accounts.
From 2004 to 2009 he co-founded and managed Battenkill Capital, Inc. and Battenkill Capital Management, Inc. Battenkill Capital, Inc. was an independent FINRA/NYSE member broker/dealer serving institutional asset managers and acting as broker's broker on the NYSE trading floor.
Shawn began his career in the financial service sector in the late 1990s with an independent member NASD broker/dealer, helping to manage their institutional trade desk and conduct manager due diligence for their proprietary alternative investment products. He has held FINRA Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 66 (Investment Advisory & Securities Sales Representative), Series 24 (General Securities Principal), Series 55 (OTC Equity Trader), and Series 4 (Registered Options Principal) licenses.
Shawn is also active within organizations in his local community. He is Curator and board member of the Manchester Historical Society, a trustee of the Dellwood Cemetery Association and board member for The Wilson House of East Dorset. In 2015 he was named the town's "Unsung Hero" designated by his hometown of Manchester, a community service award which recognizes volunteerism through the Manchester and the Mountains community. He resides in Manchester with his 2 young sons.

His earlier years working with Fidelity Investments on the brokerage trading desk primed him well for educating clients on the risks and rewards associated with the stock and bond markets. From 2000-2009, Steve honed his financial planning skills and excelled as a top-ranked advisor at one of Fidelity's most prestigious offices in the country, the Braintree Investor Center.
Steve's relaxed and consultative process puts his clients at ease and enables him to fully address the financial aspirations of his clients by first understanding their current finances, tolerance for risk, and short and long term objectives.
Within the past four years, Steve has built a successful financial planning practice of his own on the south shore. Thomas M. Sliney, CFA is an Investment Advisor Representative at Bay Colony Advisors. Tom spent over 18 years advising clients on their financial investments, most recently at the Private Client Services division of First Niagara Bank in Hartford, Connecticut, and its predecessor, Trust Company of Connecticut. A member of the Investment Committee, Tom is passionate about the investment business and is a regular attendee of the Berkshire Hathaway Annual meeting in Omaha, Nebraska.
Tom earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and worked for Coopers & Lybrand, now PricewaterhouseCoopers. He received his BS in Accounting (cum laude) and MSF in Finance, both from Boston College, and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Tom was an officer in the United States Army and served in Germany. He is a graduate of the US Army Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia and was a three-time recipient of the Army Commendation Medal.
Tom is active in the community. He is Treasurer and Board Member of Grace Academy, a Nativity Miguel School for girls, grades 5-8 in Hartford, CT, and the treasurer of the Sister Parish Committee, St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, Hartford, supporting St. Genevieve in Z’Oranje, Haiti, which he visited in 2007.
